2025 TERM 2 WEEK 9
PRINCIPAL REPORT

Winter has struck this last fortnight! Please remember what our uniform expectations for cooler weather are – no hoods on the jumpers/jackets, blue jumpers and long pants, no jeans. The P&C uniform shop has plenty of supplies and families can order through QKR for delivery to their student directly at school.
After the cooler start to the day, what a beautiful day it turned out to be for our Mary Valley Small Schools Mini Sports Day last Friday! And what super efforts students put into their events! There was much running, jumping, throwing, cheering and smiling in all age groups. Congratulations to you all. A massive thank you to all involved in the organisation and running of the day. Our students then travelled to Mary Valley College on Wednesday to participate in track trials, ball games and novelty events. Successful students from the two carnivals will be eligible to participate in the Gympie District Athletics Trials pending qualifying distances and times. They will be notified directly.
Amamoor SS would like to wish Mrs Wilson the best in her new music role for Term 3, we have appreciated all your teachings for our students especially in the music department. We will be welcoming Mrs Lovett as the Year 3 / 4 class teacher for Term 3 while Mrs Hughes is on leave.
Our Amamoor teachers worked with cluster teachers from Mary Valley College, Kandanga and Dagun SS when Amamoor hosted the Term 2 after moderation session on Tuesday 17th June. We worked collaboratively together to support the development and use of consistent assessment practices across classrooms and teachers. Another purpose of the session was the development of metacognitive and self-regulation skills to enable students to monitor and lead their own learning.
Over the last couple of weeks of the term, class teachers are being released from their class duties for a couple of hours each to work on Term 3 unit planning. These sessions are valuable in the fact that teachers get to work specifically on assessment adjustments, unit teaching sequence, adjustments for individual students and how best to teach the students (eg the pedagogy – teaching strategies such as explicit instruction, play, inquiry, guided and so on). It is always exciting to start the next term’s units.
Monday 16 June 2025 is designated as School Cleaners’ Day – a day in which to formally acknowledge the contribution this group of employees make to our schools. Rachael works for hours before and after official school hours to ensure our work and learning environment is clean, neat, tidy and safe. We are also thankful to George who is our relief cleaner.
With holiday time approaching, please start a shopping list of items your child will need to restock depleted supplies. Pencils, erasers and other such items should be put at the top of the list. We have a busy last week of school with our Year 5/6 students going to Explore Career Pathways Expo on Thursday 26th June.
Semester One 2025 report cards are being prepared. Expect to see report cards in your email inbox some time in Week 10. Some reports cards will indicate whether an interview is requested. If your report card says this, please follow up by making an appointment with the respective teacher. Of course, you are all welcome to have an interview with your child’s teacher but please note that as we had a formal interview period early in the term, we will not be having set times for interviews now.
Be Responsible: Got a problem with others? Use the High 5.
Problems? Think first - solving problems & finding solutions
Having a problem with someone else is very common, everyone has problems to solve. When we have a problem with another person, it is good to solve the problem without fighting. It is good to think about the best way to solve the problem. When we have problems especially with a classmate, teacher, sibling or parent, we first need to think first about the best possible way to solve the problem so that we make a good choice about the best way to behave in the situation.
You fill a bucket when you show love to someone, when you smile, make someone feel special or do something kind. That’s being a bucket filler. A bucket filler is someone who says or does nice things to other people.
Take care over the school holidays and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3 on Monday 14th July 2025.
