2023 Term 3 Week 7
Principals Report
Welcome to the start of Week 8!!! A special ‘Thank you’ to the staff, children and parents who have made my first week amazing. The fantastic staff at Amamoor truly know how to make new staff feel at home. I have been asked by Education Queensland to continue through to the end of this term and I have happily accepted, this will also keep some continuity with the students in the school and my current Year 3 students.
Students are very busy completing assessment, practicing poetry and getting things organised for the Mary Valley Show. Unfortunately, Donna (teacher aide) was away last week with a fall that broke her wrist. I hope that she returns to work this week if she feels up to it.
Year 4/5/6 should have given parents notes about a trip to Gympie Central State School to play futsal and soccer on the 8th September. Could we please have the permission notes signed with the payment as soon as possible. The children have also taken home notes about their end of year school camp. It is really important that we have these notes and the food allergy form returned to ensure catering and accommodation will be organised in advance.
George is doing a fantastic job working with the students in the garden and with the Kitchen Garden Programme. Debbie put in a huge effort with the Book Fair and set it up beautifully. The teachers in this school go above expectations with their classroom work and enthusiasm for their jobs. Thank you Dave for keeping our grounds looking beautiful. Thanks to Chappy for continuing to be there for all of our kids. A special Thank you to you all for your hard work and efforts.
If you have any enquiries my door is always open and Mrs Tombs is also happy to answer any questions that you may have. Thank you Mrs Tombs for working hard this week even though you weren’t feeling very well.
Count down to holidays has started!!!

Chappy News
Wow! Hasn’t this term been flying by?
This has been a great term for chaplaincy. I have been involved with running our 4,5,6 Chappy Club during 2nd break on a Friday where students from that class can drop in during lunch and enjoy doing some fun activities with me in the classroom. I have also started doing Chappy Club for the year 3’s on the Wednesday’s that I’m at school. The students from each of those times enjoy the opportunity of coming and participating in some fun activities with me.
I continue to have students playing table tennis with me during first break each day. It’s great to see them developing an interest in the sport and to see their skills improving.
I have just wrapped up working with the Year 6 students where we’ve been focussing on friendship and respect. I trust that they have been given some tools that can help them navigate those, sometimes challenging, situations. I am continuing to work with the year 3’s and 4’s in those groups and will start next term with the year 5’s.
Check out the photos of students involved in the various group activities.
Have a great week!
