2023 Term 4 Week 9
Principal Report
The Beach
Our academic year for 2023 will conclude with a picturesque day at Noosa Main Beach, where we will relish our final moments by having a delightful picnic at Lions Park. This memorable day will culminate with an exhilarating 'surf skills' lesson, skilfully guided by Noosa's Surf Life Savers. Celebrating the close of the school year on the beach will add an extraordinary touch, marking the culmination of our collective efforts and the attainment of a brimming bucket of 'fuzzies' as part of our Positive Behaviour for Learning initiative.
'Big Day Out'
Meanwhile, our Year 6 students will orchestrate their seniors' 'Big Day Out' at Sunshine Plaza. Remarkably, they will finance the entire day through funds they have diligently raised throughout the year. Engaging in thrilling activities such as high ropes, a cinema outing, paddle boating, indulging in gelato, and relishing a scrumptious meal, the day will be a testament to their hard work and camaraderie. Special appreciation will go to Ms. Broome and Ms. Howard for their invaluable assistance in ensuring the success of the day.
Year 6 Graduation
Our Year 6 Graduation took place earlier this week at the charming Imbil Bowls Club. The evening was a graceful affair, adorned by students dressed stylishly for this significant milestone. Under the adept guidance of Ms. Broome, the graduation ceremony unfolded seamlessly, with students receiving their cherished graduation ‘teddies’ and 'leavers' books. Heartfelt gratitude extends to the P&C for their unwavering support of our graduating students throughout this journey.
2024 Class Options
After careful consideration and consultation, the decision-making process for class configurations in 2024 will ultimately rest with permanent principal, Mr. Anthony Benzie. His experience and expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the educational landscape of our school for the upcoming year.
We value the input of our community, and as part of the decision-making process, we will be closely monitoring enrolment numbers. The data collected during the second week of Term 1 will be instrumental in determining the plan for the remainder of the year. Your prompt cooperation in providing accurate enrolment information is greatly appreciated. Please rest assured that we are committed to creating an inclusive and effective learning environment for all our students.
It is important to note that, regardless of the ultimate decisions made, the school stationary per year level will remain consistent. We understand the importance of stability and uniformity in the learning experience, and we are dedicated to providing a cohesive educational environment for all students.
Farewell
As I prepare to bid farewell to Amamoor State School and embark on a new chapter in my journey, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. It has been an incredible experience being a part of this vibrant and caring community, and I feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated individuals and families.
My time here at Amamoor State School has been a period of growth, learning, and meaningful connections. The unwavering support, warmth, and cooperation of this community have made a significant impact on my life, both personally and professionally.
I want to extend my gratitude to the teachers, staff, and administrators who have been not only colleagues but also mentors and friends. Your commitment to excellence in education and your tireless efforts in shaping the future of our students have been truly inspiring.
To the students, you have been the source of my daily inspiration. Your enthusiasm for learning, creativity, and resilience have reminded me of the importance of the work we do in education. I have learned as much from you as you may have learned from me, and I will carry the memories of our time together with me always.
To the parents and guardians, thank you for entrusting your children's education to us and for your active involvement in their growth. Your support and collaboration have been essential to the success of our school community.
To everyone who has contributed to the enriching experiences and cherished moments during my tenure here, whether through volunteering, participating in school events, or simply sharing a kind word or smile on the path, I am deeply grateful for your presence.
While I am excited about the new opportunities that await me, leaving Amamoor State School is bittersweet. The bonds forged here will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope our paths will cross again in the future.
I look forward to hearing about the continued success and achievements of Amamoor State School.
Thank you once again for allowing me to be a part of this incredible community.
Regards,
Mitch Brown | Principal

Graduation
Year 3
3B have been keeping momentum high and working hard over the past weeks to complete our final assessments, the biggest being our English Informative Text research report on Nothern Blossom Bats. We are recording our knowledge in small booklets that we hope to share with Prep and Year 1/2 over the coming weeks. We are also making sure that we are confident with out 2,3,4,5 and 10 x tables before heading into Year 4. So now we are ready for some fun end of year activities to finish off our time together as a class and appreciate the special year that we have had in Year 3.

Fire Truck Visit
Last Thursday, the Prep and Year One/Two classes were lucky to have a visit from the Imbil Firefighters. We learnt a lot about good fires and bad fires and being safe. It was so much fun spraying the hose!
We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing you all in 2024.

P&C News
The year is fast coming to a close and the P&C wraps up its commitments at the student awards ceremony being held on Wednesday 6th December at 9am, with the giving of the students’ end-of-year books. This is one of our traditions that the P&C are proud to provide each year in support of the school’s fantastic reading program.
It’s been a really great year for the P&C. The executive team has really shined, and I feel privileged to work with super committed individuals that offer such a variety of skills and opinions. Furthermore, the community organisations and volunteers of the P&C have been fantastic in making our fundraising events successful. Very successful in fact. This year the P&C has raised $12,000! (plus the additional $7000 given by the Gympie Music Muster for previous years' service). This reflects the many hours of planning from the team, in conjunction with the huge on the ground effort of our volunteers. There have been so many willing to give up their time either at events or behind the scenes this year and your contribution doesn’t go unnoticed.
The P&C has continued to focus on providing students at Amamoor State School with rich learning experiences that they would otherwise not be afforded. In collaboration with Tony Benzie and staff, students have been able to attend a host of excursions, camps and specialty programs across the region. All these extra-curricular events cost money and the P&C are proud to be able to subsidize substantial amounts to enable all students to participate. Even so, the P&C executive team are already taking on feedback and starting to plan for next year to make 2024 even better for students, parents, staff and the local community. We’ve got some really cool ideas and the money to make it happen!
This being said, next year I strongly encourage all parents and fellow community members to become involved in the P&C. Being part of this organisation is great for the soul. The leadership group are friendly, down-to-earth, hardworking and just plain awesome. You will find that being part of the group will give you a great sense of togetherness, a closer connection to the school’s educational program and really highlight why it is so great to be part of a small rural community. You don’t need to take on anything in particular (although there are roles to be filled at the AGM, early next year). Simply attending meetings and helping at some fundraisers can really help in driving the P&C’s agenda. The Amamoor P&C has always been a strong part of the school setup and I think we are on the right track to reaching its full potential.
On behalf of the P&C, I hope everyone has a happy Xmas break with family and friends. We look forward to seeing everyone again in the new year. Bring on 2024!
Neil Gurnett
P&C President.
