Term 3 Week 9
From the Principal
Welcome to the current edition of our school newsletter! As we head toward the end of Term 3, our students continue to experience a wide range of fantastic experiences!
Last week, students from Prep to Year 3 headed off on a wonderful excursion to Australia Zoo. Although an incredibly interesting day, with so many things to see and do, there were some very weary little faces as students returned back to school on the bus! A big thank you to all the staff who made this experience possible.
Not to be outdone, students in Years 4, 5 and 6 were fortunate to spend the day a Noosa District High School (Cooroy campus) to watch the Matilda musical performance. All were thoroughly mesmerised by the performance, which also saw former Amamoor students on stage!
Tomorrow, Monday 6 September, sees the students from Years 4, 5 and 6 also participating in our school camp at Noosa North Shore. This three-day experience will have students mountain-biking, canoeing, orienteering and competing at laser tag to name a few! We will be accompanied by two other Mary Valley schools...Kandanga and Kenilworth. Our bus is scheduled to depart at 9am on Monday morning and return by 3pm on Wednesday.
Please remember it is the national 'R U OK?' Day this Thursday, 9 September. Sometimes a simple 'check in' on others in our busy lives can mean a lot. Life's ups and downs happen to all of us. So chances are someone you know might be struggling. Your genuine support can make a difference whatever they are facing, big or small. So, don’t wait until someone’s visibly distressed or in crisis. Make a moment meaningful and ask them how they’re really going.
Later in this newsletter, you will find plenty of information regarding the Colour Run Fundraiser happening this Friday, 10 September. This fun-filled day is designed as an important fundraising initiative to provide much-needed funds to keep our Chaplain here at Amamoor State School. I appreciate your help in supporting this endeavour.
Finally, as the term draws to a close, just a reminder that the last P&C meeting for the term is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 15 September, 3:15pm in the school music room. We would love to see you there, especially as we near our centenary date of 16 October!
A reminder that Term 3 finishes on Friday, 17 September, with students returning to school in Term 4 on Tuesday, 5 October.
Enjoy your week,
Tony Benzie

Colour Run Fundraiser
Dear Parents and Carers
This Friday, September 10, we are holding our Crazy Colour Day as a major fundraising event! We’re holding it to raise much needed money for Chaplaincy here at Amamoor State School.
Are you Fundraising?
Currently we’re still a long way from our goal, so we need everyone to pull together to help. The easiest way to help your child raise money is through online fundraising, where students raise an average of $120. Go to schoolfunrun.com.au, create a student profile page and share your online fundraising link via SMS, Email and Social Media.
If you are currently fundraising, THANK YOU! We hope you will continue to share your link and fundraising for the school.
About the Day
The Crazy Colour Day is all about Fun! It will be a huge colourful mess and is undoubtably one of the most exciting days on our school’s calendar, with everyone’s participation the aim. Students will need to bring an appropriate white shirt to run in with them to school, as well as a towel. All students are encouraged to participate and to be part of the fun!
Cash Donations
Students will be able to fundraise until the 6th of October so please make sure you keep sharing your link after the event. If you have raised cash for the school, please ensure you bring it (along with the back panel of the sponsorship form) back to the school before this date.
Prizes
On top of raising more money for the school, students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize! They can start ordering from the 6th of October until the 12th of October. Remember, ordering online is the best way to ensure you get what you’d like, so please get online – even if all your money is raised cash.

Hello everyone!
Our student council has just been formed and we have commenced planning for a few things.
Over the next few weeks we will be finalising our class composting system and our new worm farm. Our worms love to eat most things except for citrus, meat and dairy. If you have any queries please ask one of our Year 6s.
