2024 Term 3 Week 2
Principal's Report
Welcome to Term 3 and thank you for the warm welcome!
I am incredibly honored and excited to join the Amamoor school family as your new principal. Having spent my years in education working in a range of remote, rural, international and inner city schools, I bring with me a deep commitment to student success and a passion for creating a supportive learning environment.
My vision for Amamoor is one where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to achieve their highest potential. Together with our dedicated community and staff, I am eager to uphold our school's tradition of excellence and foster a culture of inclusivity and innovation.
I look forward to getting to know each of you and working collaboratively to ensure that Amamoor remains a place where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
As safety is paramount at Amamoor State School, we have been busy checking that our school is safe for our students, staff and visitors. As part of our safety process, we conduct both fire and lock-down drills each semester. Students are provided with an understanding of the importance of these drills and why we need to practise them. Our first fire drill will be held next week.
During Wednesday and Thursday, we welcomed Kirsten Beiers, Principal Internal Auditor, into our school to review our processes. Accolades must go to Mrs Tombs for all her work in sourcing the information required and we are looking forward to prioritising the small areas of improvement.
Term 3 events coming up will be the District Athletics Trials, Poetry Competition, Book Fair and Reading Challenge. We are busy planning the Year 4/5/6 school camp for Term 4 and some great Pick of the Crop events for the whole school.
The first P&C meeting for the term occurred on Monday this week. Thank you to all who attended for a very productive meeting. If you are interested in helping our lovely school, please feel free to come along to these monthly meeting or keep up to date with the events and requests for help this Term. The Christmas in July Raffle and Gympie Muster support are great ways to provide financial and physical support.
Swimming lessons on Fridays will start shortly with notes going home. Unfortunately our Sporting Schools subsidy was not approved for this term. Our wonderful P&C have committed a significant amount of additional funds approximately $2700 to ensure the cost for each student is kept as low as possible.
You will notice that our school attendance target is 92%. Attendance is an important component for success at school and we encourage all students to be at school every day…’Every Day Counts.’ Please help us to build this important message with our students and if a birthday or special occasion should fall on a school day, please organise the celebration for a weekend or after school. Thank you for your support.
