2024 Term 4 Week 4
Principal Report
Today we celebrated World Teacher’s Day. At Amamoor SS we are blessed to have wonderful teachers that support and educate our students. Thank you to Miss Broome, Mrs Meredith, Mrs Hughes, Mrs Butler, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Baldacchino, Mr Boyd, Mrs Valamis and Mrs Reynolds. We know our students value their kindness, caring natures and super-human dedication.
At Amamoor SS, we believe that a strong partnership between home and school is essential for the success of our students. To foster a positive and respectful environment, we ask all parents to adhere to our Parent and Community Code of Conduct. This code emphasises the importance of respectful communication, collaboration with staff, and supportive behaviour towards all members of our school community.
By modelling these values, we create a welcoming atmosphere where students can thrive academically and socially. We appreciate your commitment to upholding these principles and thank you for being an integral part of our school family. Together, let’s make Amamoor SS a safe and nurturing environment for our children!
Parents and visitors to our school communities demonstrate this by:
- using polite spoken and written language
- speaking and behaving respectfully at all times
- being compassionate when interacting with others
- informing staff if the behaviour of others is negatively impacting them or their family
- respecting staff time by accepting they will respond to appropriate communication when they are able
- requesting a meeting to discuss any concerns about their child’s education — allowing staff time to prepare and appreciating their time may be limited
- taking responsibility for their child arriving and departing school safely on time every day
- reading and encouraging their child to understand and follow the Student Code of Conduct
- valuing each child’s education
- acknowledging staff are responsible for supporting the whole school community
- speaking positively about the school and its staff
- not making negative comments or gossiping about other school community members, including students — in person, in writing or on social media
- understanding, at times, compromises may be necessary
- considering the privacy of all school community members at all times, and understanding that the school cannot share confidential information.

Year 1/2 Classroom
We are very lucky at our school to have Mr Boyd as our P.E. teacher. He always makes our P.E. lessons fun and enjoyable. During the past few weeks Mr Boyd has organised Corey to come and teach us some great soccer games and drills. We have had so much fun and have improved our soccer skills at the same time.
It has also been great catching up with several parents to discuss their child’s progress over the last couple of weeks. Just a reminder that if you would like your child’s Reading Eggs or Mathletics log-ins please let me know and I’ll email them to you.
Another reminder about Under 8’s next Wednesday, 30th October, from 9.00-12.00. Hope to see you there!
Kind Regards,
Sally Meredith

What an amazing school we have here in Amamoor. One of the important tasks that I get to do each week is running Breaky Club. It is so good that our students can come to school knowing that they can have a nutritious breakfast before school. But it’s not just me, from time to time I’ll have some helpers from year 5/6 come in to help run breaky club. It is so good to have these young students come in and help, as they learn the importance of serving others.
Helping out in art class this term has been interesting, as I’ve been able to see how talented the students are in putting together their art project. It will be awesome to see their completed work.
Handball at first break continues to be popular as I get to challenge some of our students. Not to mention that they seem to really enjoy it when they get me out. And who would know that there are sooo many rules to a game where you just hit a rubber ball back and forth.
Our year 6 students continue their fundraising efforts for the end of year outing. Selling ice blocks on a Friday afternoon continues to be popular. And on that note, they are planning on having a Cookie Drive next month where families can have the opportunity to purchase some yummy cookies made by the year 6 students - watch this space for further details.
