2025 TERM 2 WEEK 2
PRINCIPAL REPORT

Amamoor SS would like to thank David Hill for his service to our school as the Schools Officer (Grounds) and wish him his best into his next journey of retirement. We would like to welcome Jessica Lennard as our newly appointed permanent Schools Officer and know that she will be well supported by our community.
We would also like to welcome Chappy Kim who has been working in our school this term getting to know our students and families. She will be working two days a week promoting wellbeing, serving as an additional role model, engaging with our parents and community and providing compassionate pastoral and practical support.
Next week we are looking forward to our first Prep Transition session for our 2026 students. Miss Broome will be welcoming the students into her classroom from 9:30 – 11am on Thursday 8th May.
Over the next few newsletters, we will be sharing a range of videos that support the reading development our students are undergoing throughout their school journey that can be supported by parents and community members. The Queensland Department of Education have a range of videos available on their YouTube page. This week’s has a speech pathologist explaining the oral language development in children and can be found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ34-Kkchp4
Thank you to our families for engaging with positivity in our Parent Teacher Meetings with our class teachers recently. We appreciate your support in working together as one team.

5/6 CLASS
On Tuesday, Amamoor State School came together to commemorate ANZAC Day with a meaningful ceremony. We were honoured to welcome a special guest, Division 8 Councillor Gordon Maudsley, who joined us for the occasion.
Our students showed great respect as we paused to remember and honour the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our country. It was a particularly proud moment for our Year 6 student leaders, who were formally presented with their 'Student Leader' badges by Councillor Maudsley.
Each of the four leaders took a pledge to act as positive role models, committing to uphold our school values and lead by example. It was a memorable day filled with reflection, pride, and a strong sense of community.
The Year 5/6 class are currently analysing information reports and are working towards creating an information report on a famous company of their choosing (Mr Browne is expecting to learn a great deal about dirt bikes and gaming console corporations).

Chappy
Welcome from Our New Chaplain – Chappy Kim
Hello Amamoor School community!
My name is Chappy Kim, and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new chaplain here at Amamoor School. Originally from Canada, I’m also a proud mum of two children aged 8 and 11.
I’m here to support both students and families by offering emotional, social, and spiritual care, and by promoting overall well-being throughout the school. With a background in sport, I’m passionate about helping children stay active and understand the importance of movement for both body and mind.
Creativity is another big part of who I am—I love working with art, photography, and even LEGO! I look forward to sharing these interests with the students and creating meaningful connections within our school community.
I’ll be at school two days a week, and I warmly invite you to drop by for a chat or just to say hello. I’m really looking forward to getting to know you and your children!
Warm regards,
Chappy Kim
