2025 TERM 3 WEEK 4
PRINCIPAL REPORT

Eleven of our Year 4/5/6 students from Amamoor last week took part in an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government provided contributing funds of $135 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
We would also like to thank the Amamoor P&C through their incredible work of fundraising and support were able to donate $500 per attending student. This is greatly appreciated by our families for helping subsidise an amazing learning experience for our students. We know our families will return the favour of supporting our P&C in the future fundraising events coming up.
There were many highlights of our trip from travelling to both the new and old Parliament House, the Royal Australian Mint, Australian Institute of Sport, Australian War Memorial, Perisher snow, National Capital Exhibition Centre, Questacon, National Gallery of Australia, Government House, Museum of Australian Democracy, R & R Senate rose garden, GeoScience Australia and Mini Golf. We travelled with four schools from Central Queensland and it was great to see our students making new friends.
Coming up on the Tuesday 19th August is our Book Week dress up. We can’t wait to see our students dressed up in their favourite book character. Our parade will be held at 2:15pm on Tuesday 19th August. All families are welcome to join us.
