2025 TERM 4 WEEK 2
PRINCIPAL REPORT

Welcome to Term 4 of the 2025 school year!!
I hope you all had an enjoyable break from the routines of school days and are now ready for a big term of learning and growing. Students were certainly ready to get back into their school social lives. They were also straight into teaching and learning routines. So many students seem to have had a physical growth spurt over the break, and many have had a growth in their learning as demonstrated through writing and maths lessons this week. All classes have great teaching and learning tasks to complete this term as they head towards the assessment tasks. When you visit your student’s classroom, have a look at the learning walls with your child to see and hear about what is being taught and learnt in the key learning areas. Class teachers have been sending out class newsletters outlining specific class learning and activities for this term. Also continue to read the fortnightly newsletter as it also outlines school happenings. If the link to the newsletter in your email does not work, you can always go to the school website to access the newsletter. You can also catch up on school news on the Amamoor SS Facebook page.
This term, we look forward to Prep Transition sessions, Year 3-6 Rugby 7s Gala Day, Prep – Year 3 Wildlife HQ Excursion, World Teachers Day, transition to high school activities, P&C meetings, Surf Skills, Year 6 Graduation, Raw Art workshops, professional learning and so on. Never a dull moment again!
Lapathon prizes to be handed out at next parade, thanks to our P&C Association for running this fundraising activity for our school community and thank you to the families who supported the day with the setup and helping fundraisers.
Attendance every day counts. Our school target for attendance is 92%. Our average daily attendance is roughly 87%. The importance of students attending school can’t be underestimated. Not only it is vital for their learning but it also is important for the development of friendships and feeling like they belong. If you are going to be away for an extended period of time then you need to notify the office so you can be given a form that needs to be completed to explain your child’s absence. It is a requirement that all student absences are explained. This can be done by QParents, phone call, note, responding to the text message or email – either before the absence if it is a planned one, or on the day of. Unexplained absences are recorded in the student’s records and notes will be sent home every two weeks if contact is not made by families. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT.
Uniforms: school polo shirt with blue skorts / shorts. All students are to wear school broad brimmed hats and shoes and socks. Socks need to be down around the ankles and shoes need to be joggers or similar for the range of physical activities the students participate in. All uniforms to be named please especially jumpers and socks. Jewellery: The only jewellery items allowed to be worn at school are sleeper or stud earrings, watches, cignet rings and medic alert necklaces/bracelets. Temporary tattoos/makeup: These items are not permitted. This includes fingernail polish.
Amamoor SS would like to thank Gympie Central Woolworths for their kind donations to our school this term. Each day our students are provided with free fruit, vegetables and healthy snacks for fruit break. The fruit has been a great range and quality – thank you! We would also like to thank YMCA and Foodbank for their donations for our Breakfast and Lunch programs as well. We know that this is a valued service for our students.
The school have worked with in consultation with the P&C to provide a stationery service for our students in 2026. Families that are interested will be invoiced directly and the booklist items will be purchased by the school and distributed to families at the end of the term. The cost of the booklist will be $100 per student which will include exercise books, stationery and text books. Some items such as USBs, headphones and pencil cases (not the contents) will not be included as they are items that are reusable from previous years. The aim is to provide families with reasonable costs for the items as the school is able to order the equipment in bulk resulting in discounts for families. Keep an eye out for information regarding signing up to utilise this service.

Please note that sponsorship money is now due. Place it in a sealed envelope and drop it into the red mailbox in the office. Be sure to include your student’s name, the number of laps run, and the total amount raised. If your child is unsure how many laps they completed, please reach out.
